BaZi Two-Chart Comparison Calculator

Independently compute two Four Pillars charts to inspect their Day Master five-phase relationship alongside conventional stem and branch pairings. Built for calm reflection, this tool runs locally in your browser and assigns no compatibility score.

01

Start with two moments.

Person one

The local clock time and time zone where they were born.

Person two

Ask before using someone else’s birth details.

Your birth details stay in memory only while this page is open. They are never uploaded, saved in your browser, or placed in share links. Clear the form when you finish on a shared device.

How the calculation works

Calculations use your recorded local clock time and IANA time zone, including historical daylight-saving rules. Astronomical solar terms set the year and month boundaries, while the day pillar changes at local midnight. No longitude-based true-solar-time correction is applied.

If your birth time falls in a daylight-saving transition, the tool will explain whether that clock time was missing or repeated. An uncertain birth time cannot give a reliable hour pillar.

The chart shows four heavenly stems and four earthly branches. Counts of their five phases describe these eight visible characters only. They do not measure overall strength, reveal hidden stems or prescribe a missing element.

TWO CHARTS. NO FIXED VERDICT.

A two-chart comparison you can repeat

BaZi and Four Pillars describe the same eight-character chart structure. This comparison calculates a separate Year, Month, Day, and Hour column for each person before listing traditional cross-chart relations.

To try the form without using private details, use these invented practice records. Keep each person's original local clock reading paired with their own birthplace time zone, even when the two zones differ.

  1. Read the upper Day character in each chart. Record both Day Masters, including the Yin or Yang label and phase.
  2. Read a Day Master phase relation in the stated direction: person one to person two. Reversing the direction can change the wording. A same-phase relation does not necessarily mean the same stem.
  3. For each stem combination, branch combination, or opposition that appears, record its exact position in both charts, such as person one's Month and person two's Hour. Four positions in each chart create sixteen position pairs to inspect.
  4. If a character pair appears in several positions, keep those positions distinct. More rows do not make a stronger match. If no pairing appears, that is also a valid result of the listed rules.
  5. Finish with a question both people can answer from experience, such as “When do we each prefer to plan together?”
The displayed pillars for these practice records
RecordYearMonthDayHourDay Master
Person one己巳丁丑庚辰壬午庚 Geng, Yang Metal
Person two壬申丙午丁卯戊申丁 Ding, Yin Fire

The Day Master relation reads Fire regulates Metal, from person two to person one. For a position example, person one's Year Branch 巳 pairs with person two's Year Branch 申 as a branch combination. Person two also has 申 in the Hour position, so that same character pairing appears again at a different position.

The relation labels are traditional descriptions for conversation and do not predict a relationship outcome. Ask before entering another person's real birth details.

Both exact local times are required. If one time is approximate, compare clearly labeled scenarios on paper. If an hour is entirely unknown, start with the birth-record guide instead of substituting noon.

Read Day Master relations and pillar pairings · Understand repeated pairs · Compare records from different time zones

Ask permission. Leave room for disagreement.

Birth details belong to the person they describe. Only compare with their permission, and let each person decide whether an interpretation feels useful. A chart is never a reason to dismiss someone’s feelings or boundaries.

An interesting pattern.
A better question.

How is BaZi chart comparison different from Western synastry?

Western synastry calculates geometric aspects between planets, signs, and house cusps. This Chinese astrology tool compares two Four Pillars calendars instead. It computes each person's BaZi chart independently, then lists the directed five-phase relation between their Day Masters alongside classical Heavenly Stem combinations and Earthly Branch combinations or oppositions.

Why doesn't the comparison give a compatibility score or verdict?

Traditional stem and branch interactions describe symbolic calendar patterns, not a scientific measurement of relationship success. A comparison may show several interactions, only one, or none at all, and an empty list is not a negative result. Listing these patterns clearly without a percentage score lets you reflect on your dynamic without treating a cultural framework as a fixed verdict.

What birth details are required, and do our inputs stay private?

Both profiles require a Gregorian birth date, local recorded time, and an explicit IANA birthplace time zone; ambiguous or unknown times are rejected so the eight characters remain exact. All calculations stay in your browser's local page memory with no accounts, server uploads, or birth details embedded in public links.
