Use the recorded local clock time, including daylight saving if it was observed.

How the calculation works

Calculations use your recorded local clock time and IANA time zone, including historical daylight-saving rules. Astronomical solar terms set the year and month boundaries, while the day pillar changes at local midnight. No longitude-based true-solar-time correction is applied.

If your birth time falls in a daylight-saving transition, the tool will explain whether that clock time was missing or repeated. An uncertain birth time cannot give a reliable hour pillar.

The chart shows four heavenly stems and four earthly branches. Counts of their five phases describe these eight visible characters only. They do not measure overall strength, reveal hidden stems or prescribe a missing element.

Why do I need an exact birth time and birthplace time zone?

The Hour Pillar changes every two civil hours, and the Day Pillar rolls over at midnight. Selecting an explicit IANA time zone ensures historical daylight saving rules are applied accurately. If a civil clock time is missing or repeated during a daylight saving transition, or if you do not know your birth time, the calculator cannot verify a complete four-pillar chart.

How does this calculator handle calendar boundaries and five-phase counts?

Years and months follow astronomical solar terms, while days change at civil midnight without true solar time adjustments. The chart displays the four pillars, identifies your Day Master, and counts the five phases across the eight visible stems and branches. It does not compute hidden stems, chart strength, luck cycles, or Western planetary placements.

Is this BaZi calculator free, and is my birth information saved?

The calculator is completely free and runs entirely inside your browser's active page memory. We do not use user accounts, and your birth details are never uploaded or stored on a server. Public links to this tool carry no personal inputs, and optional reflection cards include only your Day Master symbol and general prompts.
